Overview
Bhajan Sangraha ("the app") is developed by Pahadi Labs. This policy applies to the Android app distributed on Google Play under the package com.pahadilabs.bhajan_sangraha. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Information we collect
The app is designed to work without an account. The table below covers everything the app can collect, and when.
| Data | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, account ID | Optional | Created when you choose to sign in with Google, so your bookmarks follow you across devices. |
| Bookmarked / favourited bhajans | Always, on-device | Saved locally so favourites open instantly, even offline. |
| Bookmarked / favourited bhajans | Optional, cloud | Synced to your account only if you're signed in, so favourites carry over on a new device. |
| Font size & app preferences | Always, on-device | Remembered locally between sessions. |
| Network status (online/offline) | Always, on-device | Checked locally to decide whether to sync; never transmitted anywhere. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos, or device identifiers for advertising.
Signing in with Google
If you tap "Sign in," Google Sign-In asks only for your email address. We use it to create an account through Firebase Authentication, identified by an internal account ID. We never see or store your Google password.
You can use every feature of the app — reading, searching, and saving favourites on your device — without ever signing in.
How we use it
- To let you sign in and keep your saved bhajans consistent across your devices.
- To sync favourites between the app and our database when you're online.
- To keep the bhajan library, festival calendar, and search index up to date.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond running the app's own features.
Storage & retention
Bhajan text, your preferences, and offline favourites are stored locally on your device. If you sign in, your account record and synced bookmarks are stored in Cloud Firestore for as long as your account exists. Signing out stops further syncing but does not delete data already stored in the cloud — see Your choices to request deletion.
Your choices
- Use it without an account. Signing in is never required.
- Sign out any time from Settings — this stops cloud sync immediately.
- Clear local data by uninstalling the app, or clearing app storage from your device's app settings.
- Delete your account and cloud data by emailing us at the address below — we'll remove your Firebase account and any synced bookmarks.
Children's privacy
Bhajan Sangraha is a general-audience devotional reference app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only information ever collected — an email address — is only gathered if a user chooses to sign in, and is not required to use the app.
Security
Sign-in and data sync are handled through Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, secured in transit with HTTPS/TLS. Firestore access rules restrict each signed-in user's bookmark data to that user's own account.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect. We encourage checking back occasionally.
